Diet for anorexia at home for weight gain

Nutrition rules

Anorexia is a serious illness that poses a threat to human life. Most often observed in women, less often in men , children and adolescents . The most common form in women is anorexia nervosa ; in men and children, the pathology usually develops against the background of an existing disease.    

An eating disorder requires treatment, either in an inpatient or home setting, depending on the stage of the disease. In addition to medical and psychological treatment, dietary therapy plays an important role in recovery.

Enteral nutrition for pathology is selected based on the individual characteristics of the patient. Medical nutrition is developed by a nutritionist, while it is based on the following rules:

  • The diet should be balanced, with enough vitamins, minerals, proteins, fats and slow carbohydrates.
  • Serving size is calculated individually for each patient. The volume of one dish should not be too large or small, otherwise the results achieved will be lost.
  • The weight gain diet should consist of liquid or semi-liquid meals.
  • The diet should always contain fresh fruits and berries, they can be eaten whole or in the form of puree.
  • Meals should be fractional, there should be 3 main meals and 2 snacks per day.
  • The daily diet should include soups, low-fat fish, cereals, meat and fresh vegetables.
  • It is important to observe the drinking regime, drinking at least 1.5 liters of clean water without gases.

Allowed and prohibited foods

The restorative diet for anorexia should be applied with caution, especially when it comes to expanding the diet. The table below provides a list of allowed and prohibited foods for an eating disorder.

Diet menu

For a speedy recovery, the patient’s body requires a sufficient intake of healthy high-calorie foods. Below are examples for breakfast, snack, lunch and dinner.

Breakfast:

  • coffee with cream, boiled eggs, or egg omelet;
  • sweet tea, oatmeal cookies, buckwheat (rice) porridge with milk;
  • berry compote, cottage cheese casserole with dried fruits (nuts);
  • green tea, oatmeal (linseed) jelly;
  • cocoa with milk, a hot sandwich with cheese, ham, butter, fresh vegetables and herbs.
  • vegetable puree, chicken broth;
  • vegetable salad with olive oil, soup with meat and vegetables;
  • bread, meatballs or steamed fish, vegetable stew;
  • boiled or baked fish, mashed potatoes with butter and a little milk;
  • pork steak baked in the oven, chicken or turkey meat, buckwheat porridge.

If you wish, you can eat infant formula in the evening to promote weight gain and are not harmful to health.

Snacks:

  • seeds;
  • baking;
  • vegetable juices diluted with water in a ratio of 1 to 1;
  • fruit and berry purees made from fresh fruits;
  • nuts;
  • cupcakes;
  • cottage cheese and fruit cocktail;
  • decoctions from plants that stimulate appetite;
  • fermented baked milk, kefir, yogurt;
  • dried fruits;
  • biscuits.

Folk remedies

Effectively use traditional medicine to increase appetite. You can use them only after consulting a specialist.

The easiest way to increase your appetite is to consume ¼ cup freshly squeezed grapefruit juice with pulp 30 minutes before meals. It is also recommended that you eat 30 fresh mustard seeds for 20 days.

Infusion of calamus marsh

Composition:

  • water – 1 glass;
  • calamus root (chopped) – 2 tsp

How to cook: Pour the calamus into a thermos, then pour boiling water over it. Insist the remedy all night. 

How to use: Drink ¼ cup 30 minutes before each meal. 

Anise seed infusion

Composition:

  • anise seeds – 1 tsp;  
  • water – 1 glass.

How to cook: Pour boiling water over the seeds. Wait until the composition has completely cooled down. 

How to use: Drink 0.5 cups of infusion 30 minutes before meals. 

Trifol infusion

Components:

  • tripol leaves – 2 tsp;
  • water – 220 ml.

How to cook: Pour boiling water over the leaves. Insist an hour, strain. 

How to use: Drink ¼ cup 30 minutes before each meal. 

Infusion of aralia high

Products:

  • high aralia roots – 1 tbsp;
  • medical alcohol – 100 ml.

How to cook: Pour the crushed roots of the plant with alcohol. Insist the product for 15 days in a dark room. 

How to use: Drink 30 drops of the infusion with meals for 2-3 weeks. 

Wormwood infusion

Ingredients:

  • water – 2 glasses;
  • wormwood – 1 tsp

How to cook: Pour boiling water over the herb, leave for 2 hours. 

How to use: Take ¼ cup 30 minutes before each meal. 

Contraindications

In some cases, adherence to a therapeutic diet is prohibited. It should not be followed during an exacerbation of chronic ailments, colds and flu, as well as disorders of the immune system.

Anorexia is a dangerous condition of the body, which is fraught with various serious complications and a long recovery period. Therefore, do not try to get slimmer by completely avoiding food. Better exercise and start eating right .
